What is Laser Liposuction?

Have you looked in the mirror and felt frustrated by bulges of fat that just won’t go away with diet and exercise?

Do you want to feel better and look better in clothing?

Are you looking for a one-time, low discomfort with minimal downtime treatment?

If you have asked yourself any of the above questions, perhaps, laser liposuction is the treatment choice to reshape the look you desire.

How does laser liposuction work?

Laser liposuction or Smartlipo® is performed with a small laser fiber that produces gentle laser energy which heats, liquifies and coagulates fat cells. Blood vessels are also sealed, allowing fat removal with less pain, swelling and bruising than old-fashioned liposuction. Another unique feature of Smartlipo®, the heat of the laser is used to heat the skin. The heating of the skin provides skin contraction, increased collagen and elastin, resulting in increased skin tightening when compared to traditional liposuction.

Where is the procedure performed?

At SAS Med Spa, laser liposuction is performed, in our procedure suite, under local anesthesia and oral sedation. The local anesthesia is inserted in the unwanted fat bulge. Once the area is numb, the laser fiber is inserted and melting of the fat begins. Once the fat is melted the liquefied fat is suctioned from the same tiny opening, out of the body, and into a canister.

What results can I expect?

For most people, reduction in the fat bulge can be seen within one week. During the procedure removal of all the destroyed fat cells is impossible. Your body will continue to process the dead fat cells; therefore, the melted fat areas will continue to reduce and improve over the next three to six months. For optimal results, our clients are encouraged to wear a compression garment for a minimum of six weeks. We also encourage you to wear the garment for at least eight hours per day until 3 months post procedure.

What is the downtime with laser liposuctions?

The downtime with Smartlipo® is minimal. Many clients choose to have the procedure on Thursday and return to light work duties on Monday. Low impact exercises may begin within one week. Normal exercise routines resume at two weeks after the procedure.

What areas of the body can be treated with laser liposuction?

At SAS Med Spa, the surgeons treat under the chin, chest (gynecomastia), arms, back, abdomen, buttocks and thighs.

Who is a good candidate for laser liposuction?

Laser liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. Laser liposuction is perfect for the person seeking to eliminate troublesome bulges that just will not improve by diet or exericise.
